Our students

Megan Goodfellow
Student, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science

The best parts of studying Sport Science at Staffordshire University was gaining a hands-on experience, whether that was operating equipment in the physiology and biomechanics labs or coaching new skills to a group of students.

Many extra opportunities were also provided to develop vital skills, which in turn lead to better career prospects: A variety of coaching courses/badges are made available and opportunities to work with ‘real’ clients in the peak condition clinic are readily available - all things which look great on your CV.

Stephen Coates
Student, BSc (Hons) Football Coaching and Performance

This course will provide the opportunity to springboard me into education and become a PE teacher, I plan to complete my teacher training after the course. My main goal is to become a football coach within an academy and I feel the connections and knowledge I am gaining from this course will enable me to seriously fulfill my ambition.

Working in football is a very competitive environment and I believe the recognition of completing a sport related degree from Staffs Uni and the practical experience will help to make me stand out as an applicant.

Christie Scanlon
Graduate, BA (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching (Former title of our Sports Coaching degree)

The University is great at helping students develop communication skills, either written, oral or presentation. The use of interactive presentations, videos and social media platforms also built an interactive learning environment that increases learner engagement.

The lecturers also engage with students individually or in small groups which allows you to have an active role and grow in motivation and participation while on the course.

The University has also got some great relationships with leading institutions in the sporting industry, so my advice would be to get as much work experience as you can and make it worthwhile.

Christopher Maginis
Graduate, BA (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching (Former title of our Sports Coaching degree)

It is a great course, and if you put in the time and effort required you will get a lot out of it. Since graduating, I have started my Masters in Sports coaching at Staffs through distance learning, and I have started 2 coaching jobs.

There is a great learning environment at the University, and I am happy to be continuing my studies at Staffs even through distance learning.

Sam Richardson
Graduate, BA (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching (Former title of our Sports Coaching degree)

Fantastic university with a warm friendly environment. The staff and students are all very friendly and helpful and the staff will always go the extra mile to help you to reach your full potential. I would not be in the position I am today if it was not for the support, advice and opportunities Staffordshire University has provided me with.

Anthony Miller
Sports Development and Coaching

I really enjoy the broad range of psychology content, the tutors are supportive and really helpful! The facilities are perfect with very advanced equipment, making my studies even more interesting. I particularly enjoy studies in anxiety and how this can influence sports performance.
