Workplace learning

Take the opportunity to complete a work placement on every course

Geography is all around us. It's where we live, the environment, and how the world connects. On our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, you'll examine the world and analyse our surroundings to help make it better.

Fieldwork is our passion. We believe it's crucial you apply skills and knowledge you learn in the classroom out in the real world - that's why you won't pay extra for your field trips. Unlike other universities, it's all included in your tuition fees, so join us in the Peak District, Wales, and Barcelona - as well as a wide range of local field days - at no extra cost.

You'll learn from world-renowned lecturers. They're experts in cold environmental geomorphology, natural and environmental hazards, cities and global networks, landscape and ecosystems management, as well as food and agriculture.

You'll study in our £30 million Science Centre which houses excellent facilities. Here you'll practice a range of techniques for analysing the physical environment, graduating with a wide range of skills key to building on your career prospects.

On selected courses, we are offering a new way to complete your degree: using pathways. This is an alternative route that you can choose to take in the second year of your full-time undergraduate degree. It will tailor the modules you take in the rest of your course to focus on an area that you are passionate about, or want to base your future career around.
